6-Shot System

The six shot system is a way of taking photos based on the rule of thirds and positions.

Close up on HANDS. This portrays the action of the person featured along with their work or whatever they happen to be doing.

Close up of FACE. It shows their emotion and posture along with the tension that they feel. Further broadens on emotion.

A MEDIUM shot shows the waist and up, being a neutral shot of the subject.

Over the SHOULDER (OTS) shot. It shows both their actions and work, along with scenery and their emotions over what they are doing.

EXTREME WIDE shot. This shot plays out the subject's setting, scenery, action, and basic surrounding. It is mainly used to show where the subject is located.

WIDE shot. This is a head to toe shot of the subject. It establishes features and displays some of the scene.
